the pull

Don’t push.  The slightest might

send us further adrift, deep within the ocean

of a million doubts.

Don’t push.  The natural process

of life and love occur not by force,

but by a power unknown.

What is to come will come

with nature’s pull.

Feel the mighty presence of towering mountains,

the healing power in a slow trickling creek,

the unchanging guidance of a roaring river,

the mysterious wonder of crashing waves,

the cleansing touch in a pouring rain,

the wide open spaces within misty fog,

the joyous moments beneath the nurturing sun.

Feel the love that cannot be forced

or undone, bowing to nature

and her Maker.

Listen closely.  Pushing leads

to fighting, hurting, taking, breaking,

war and death.

Pushing leads to isolation, resentment

and loneliness.

The sun pulls the flowers and trees

to the sky, the sea, the river

to freedom, the moon, the stars,

the wind, everything sacred and true

pulls life to perfection.

So it is with love.  Don’t push.

Wait.  Let nature work its wonders

and pull us home in unison.
