a cabin in the woods: pt. 2

Annie and I leave for the cabin on White Pass tomorrow.  Our friends Jim and Beth have been  kind enough to let us use the cabin for a week or longer.  I went up with them yesterday to see the place.  It has everything we need: beds, shower, heat, fireplace, refrigerator, oven, stove, and of course the most important device: a coffee maker.

They also have the place stocked with flashlights, candles, games, and more.  It should be a comfortable place to stay for awhile.

From the cabin we’ll make a trip to Sunrise at Mt. Rainier National Park.  Another friend just went up there today and said the flowers are beautiful.  Expect a few pictures.  A trip to Mt. St. Helens might also be on the itinerary.  There are plenty of places to hike nearby, including the Pacific Crest trail and Goat Rocks Wilderness area.  We’ll probably keep the hikes short and sweet, although Annie can do 5-10 miles in a day when she wants.  Not bad for a seven-year old.  I’ll pack a lot of trail mix.

Internet access will be spotty up there, so I might not post everyday, but I’ll try to  get a few updates through.  There are three guest posts scheduled for next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, so keep coming back for good reading.
